The sexiest babe of indie rock is apparently Neko Case, voted for by the readers
of Playboy. This always happens, the success of every music genre drags with it
all this meaningless rubbish. Any excuse to take advantage of a current popular
theme... It is beginning to be like this whole Hip Hop hunnies thing again...
the sexiest babe of indie rock runners up were (in order): Amber Valentine, Ida
No, Caithlin De Marrais, Chan Marshall, Michelle Mae, Sahara Hotnights, W.I.T
and Sarah Nixey.

I know this is not going to work, but let us know who do you think is the
sexiest babe of Indie Rock. We are looking for people like: Charlotte from The
Subways, KT Tunstall, Cat Power.. Remember, sexiness in indie rock and roll is
not about cup size, but about performance and sexiness when playing guitar...

I think my Indie nude experiment worked

It has been a long time since I had posted to the blog. I decided to
make a post today due to two things:

It felt like summer today and I think everyone is in a brilliant mood in
the UK; we hardly see the sun!

I ran a little experiment in the past that worked...

Yes one of my previous posts was about how the term "indie nudes" is such a
popular term on the internet that is unmatched in supply. Well that post
it self on the term "indie nude", made the unsigned collage appear on the first
search results page on msn for the term "indie nude"! Get in! Any
way, that was just an experiment just to see whether I'll ever get traffic to
the Unsigned Collage, and looks like it is looking good! BUT, there is loads
more to do..

Here are the plans for the website, this summer...

We are going to start writing reviews for bands who are on the
collage...

We are going to start advertising campaigns to fill up the collage..

We are going to categorise the collage into music genres...

We will start a Myspace group

We currently have 33 members registered! Its in an achievement... but
only a few of them have posted their picture links on the collage... Gonna
get on their backs! We'll see how it goes.. Until next time..

History was made

Yesterday music history was made in the UK. We saw the
first single making it to number one, purely based on downloads. Yes, Gnarls
Barkley’s Crazy is the current UK number one and the CD is not even out yet!
Well out today! What does this tell us about the future of the music industry:

It will become more and more indie based (do it
yourself approach)

Record companies will suffer, because you will be able
to afford good recording equipment and you will be able to distribute and
promote your songs on the internet. You do not need to make thousands of
CDs to promote your album; give it away as mp3s.. It’s brilliant.. I think
we are going to hear some good music in the next few years (not that we are
not now!)

The Unsigned Collage
is slowly gathering momentum, and bands are slowly becoming part of the big
picture. This website symbolizes the big picture of talent out there. It is a
message to people like American Idol and the X Factor: you guys are failing.
The internet is bringing people together, and we can pick what we want to listen
to at a touch of a button. People (including mothers and fathers and grannies)
no longer wish to listen to manufactured crap and covers of old songs.. We now
have quality new and innovative music that we can easily find.. It’s all
happening..

Indie Nudes

Right then,

I have this little clever program where you type in a certain word, and it
gives you a number representing how many people are searching for this
particular word on the internet. So I typed in the word "indie", and it
came back with 15,000 + for the word indie, 13,000 for the word combo "indie
music", and, surprisingly, "indie nudes" was the third one with 12,000 +.
Indie nudes? are they a group of artists who are into nude performing?
Anyway, I typed it in google and it came back with a website
www.indienudes.com which is just a
website with whole load of porn links. Hmm, I don't think all these people
were searching on the internet for "indie nudes" just to find a website that is
just full of links to other porno websites. There must be something else
to it. If people were searching for porn, they would type in "nude", but
why "indie nude". Any comments would be appreciated! Have a great

Indie Hair Style?

Now then,

I mentioned in my last blog that I was going to talk
about indie hair styles. Apparently, this topic is being searched
for on the internet and I'd do everything I can to increase the
popularity of The Unsigned Collage; so here we go. I personally
think there is no such thing as an indie hair style. The word
indie means independent, i.e. it is your choice. Cut your hair as you
wish, and you'll have an indie hair style. However, there has been
an increase in the number of male fringes lately and I guess it all
coincides with the latest indie scene boom. I actually found a
brilliant gallery on a website that has all kinds of the so called indie

three new Bands

Now then,

So far we had 3 bands signing up, and it is still early days. Thanks to The Pitchers, Sheffield UK; High Child, London; and Royalties to the Royalties, Canada. They are all great bands, I've been listening to their music. It's just brilliant having a collage of unsigned bands and artists that you can explore randomly. It is just like being in a CD shop; I hope it works out. I have been intouch with Rob da Bank, a Radio 1 DJ, and I just hope he'll be interested in the idea behind the website. Anyway, I'll be writing a random web log on indie hairstyles soon! There's a reason behind it.. catch you later

Many music promotion guides emphasize that making good use of the internet is important for music promotion. Thanks to the net, we are now seeing many successful independent artists hitting the charts. The Arctic Monkeys are a classic example.. There is no need for massive campaigns to promote your music. You don’t really have to get a publishing deal to get your songs out there. The formula is: be good, have a good fan base (i.e. perform wherever you can), and direct your fans to your website. The only problem with relying on the internet to promote your music is that no one is actually going to look at you website (or your myspace) unless they have heard of you before. They need to know your name first, and where they can find you on the net. This is where I think the unsignedcollage.com comes in. It is one big collage, which will hopefully fill up with picture links to unsigned artists. Once music enthusiasts here of theunsignedcollage.com, they will visit it, they will spend a fair time clicking on interesting pictures, interesting captions. They could end up at any website. This website could well be yours. So there you have it, a random person who likes music but hasn’t been to any of your gigs listening to your music on your website. I know the concept of the website works, we just need to get it out there. Hopefully we will..

Now then,

The website is finally online, and the test begins.

I have raging passion for new music. I don’t really care about genres. I like good indie, good rock, good hip hop and good electronica. The reason I created this pixel website is because I believe in miracles. There’s a 99% chance this could be a failure, you’ll soon know. But as long as there’s a chance that the collage could be become a piece of online art, that’s a strong enough kick for me. I dream of building an online piece of art that would provide exposure to thousands of new music talents. I really hope this website will help many unsigned bands and solo artists gain good exposure, good record deals and provide us with good music. Man, I really want this to happen. But I wont sleep on that, I think I have a good plan and I will implement it. Will I succeed?
