History was made

Yesterday music history was made in the UK.  We saw the
first single making it to number one, purely based on downloads.  Yes, Gnarls
Barkley’s Crazy is the current UK number one and the CD is not even out yet!
Well out today!  What does this tell us about the future of the music industry:

• It will become more and more indie based (do it
  yourself approach)


• Record companies will suffer, because you will be able
  to afford good recording equipment and you will be able to distribute and
  promote your songs on the internet.  You do not need to make thousands of
  CDs to promote your album; give it away as mp3s.. It’s brilliant..  I think
  we are going to hear some good music in the next few years (not that we are
  not now!)

The Unsigned Collage
is slowly gathering momentum, and bands are slowly becoming part of the big
picture.  This website symbolizes the big picture of talent out there.  It is a
message to people like American Idol and the X Factor: you guys are failing. 
The internet is bringing people together, and we can pick what we want to listen
to at a touch of a button.  People (including mothers and fathers and grannies)
no longer wish to listen to manufactured crap and covers of old songs..  We now
have quality new and innovative music that we can easily find.. It’s all
happening..
